Adidas is killing the CCM apparel brand, The Post has learned.
The sportswear giant announced last week it was selling its CCM hockey brand as it continues to move away from the sports hard-goods space.
What Adidas didn’t say was that it was keeping the CCM apparel license, not transferring it to the new CCM owner.
Starting next season, Adidas will get rid of the CCM name on NHL apparel, replacing it with Adidas, a source said.
Presently, legendary hockey name CCM is the official licensee for NHL throwback jerseys, and many team sweatshirts and T-shirts. A quick walk through Manhattan’s NHL store shows about one-third of its apparel presently has the CCM name.
The jerseys players wear on ice have Adidas’ Reebok logo.
Next year, all NHL apparel will feature the Adidas name, and not Reebok or CCM.
CCM will still be seen on NHL helmets and sticks, the source said.
Adidas did not return calls.
